Our story
Luminous Bigband is a professional 19-piece jazz big band from Ghent, Belgium, founded in January 2025 and co-directed by trumpet players and conductors Marie-Anne Standaert and Floris Windey.
Rooted in the swing tradition, the band plays repertoire for dancers: classic big band swing, fresh contemporary arrangements, and sets shaped around one guiding idea — the dance floor comes first.
From its first months, the band has built a regular home on stage in Ghent, bringing the energy, pacing, and warmth of a live swing orchestra to dancers and listeners.

You will often find Luminous Bigband at Bar Lume, Vrijdagmarkt 33, 9000 Gent, where concerts are organized by Hot Club Gent for dancers, swing fans, and everyone drawn to a full big band sound.
